WILDERNESS PROJECT UP-DATE - MESSAGE FROM THE TOWN CLERK
Porthcawl Town
Council has been fortunate enough to be successful in its bid for Forestry Commission funding to make improvements to the
Wilderness Site.
Below are first draft proposals for the site, which you will see
includes the formalising of existing footpaths, the installation of gateway features (to be designed by local school children),
outdoor classrooms, and replacement seating and litter-bins.
Just recently a Tree Care Consultant has been employed and he is
currently preparing a site plan which will give details of all existing healthy trees and will also incorporate trees that
are not so healthy so that they can be marked for treatment.
The
Town Council would like to assure all members of the community that very few, if any, trees in the Wilderness will be felled.
Please therefore could those people who have systematically taken off the tree tags attached by the Tree Care Consultant,
and replaced them with Save Our Trees Posters, note that these trees are not being marked for felling, and that the removal
of the tags has caused substantial harm to the trees!!!!
The whole intention of the project is to promote and preserve plant
and tree life.
I would remind everybody that the proposals are currently in draft format and may be subject to change because of budgetary
restrictions. However, if you do have any queries please contact me, the Town Clerk, Ceri Anderson on Porthcawl 782215.
